Cross country competes in district meet

Exciting news from the Cross Country program.  This past Saturday Bolivar competed in the class 3 district race at Monett.  We have two state qualifiers for this coming weekend.  KATY ROWETON and AARON DESHAZO will be representing Bolivar at the state Cross Country meet.  This ends I believe a two year dry spell for Bolivar.  The teams ran great this past weekend.  The boys team has shown signs of improvement from the start.  With the leadership of Senior Aaron DeShazo the boys show promise for the future, with Jacob Jones having Aaron as a mentor.  Each of the boys ran a gutsy race pushing themselves on a very difficult course.  I am proud of all the young men.

The girls team put forth a valiant effort.  The first week of the season we only had three young ladies not even enough for a full team.  With some hard work by the kids we pulled in enough for a full team with 7 plus runners.  We went from no hope of team scores to a dead heat against 2 other teams fighting for the second team spot at districts to go to state.  With the leadership of Delaney Pearson the girls team transformed themselves into a powerful squad.  With the late addition of Katy Roweton and Kayla Sneed the girls show great promise for the future.  I am looking forward to the next few years as these fine young student athletes help me build this program.

High School Open House October 8th-9th

Bolivar High School would like to invite all parents to attend the fall open house October 8th and 9th from 3:30-7:00 pm. The first six week grading period ends October 3rd, and parents will be able to pick up their student's progress reports at the open house event.

Please make plans to attend this event. Teachers will enjoy having the opportunity to meet you and discuss your son or daughter's academic progress. You will not need to schedule appointments with the teachers as this is a come and go event. Since so many parents attend our open house, we ask the conference with the teacher be limited to five minutes. If a longer conference is needed, please schedule this with the individual teacher for another time.
