Season Wrap-up
We finished our season, losing to
Notre Dame de Sion 5-0 in the team regional in Kansas City yesterday,
bringing our final season record to 7-4. Notre Dame has won the state
championship the past two years in a row and, with a team loaded with
experienced players, are the favorite to win again this year."
"We had an unusual and rather
disappointing season this year, having been moved up north to Kansas
City for our district tournament and rained out of three of our
regular-season matches. In spite of it all, we can definitely term the
season a success. Most teams would love to have our record."
In addition to finishing the season
with a winning record, the team won first place in the COC Small
Division, 1st place in the Belton Invitational, 3rd place in the
Kickapoo Invitational, and 3rd place in the 26-team Springfield
Invitational. We also placed fourth in a very tough district, which
earned us a post-season match in the Team Regional.
"We've had some new and different
experiences this year, traveling to Kansas City three times and
participating in a new district. The players have pledged to work even
harder in the off-season and give those private schools a run next
year." Linda Roller
