We believe that all kids can learn, no matter what their physical , mental, or behavior concerns are.  Our mission is to become partners with the school districts, parents and community to establish programs to assist these students who are unable to accomplish their full potential in the traditional school setting.  A primary goal will be for these students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to become as independent and socially responsible as possible.

BCDD Program

Our Center is a program for students ages 5 -21 with multiple disabilities.  It is located at 1250 N. Hartford Avenue, next to the Bolivar Intermediate School.  Our school hours are 8:30 -2:30.  Students are referred by their local school districts with priority given to those with significant cognitive, adaptive, speech, language, social/emotional/behavioral and motor deficits.

Curriculum

Curriculum and activities focus on functional academics, daily living skills, independent living skills, community-based instruction, speech and/or language skills, motor development, social skills, appropriate behavior, leisure/recreation skills, and computer literacy.

The students participate in adaptive P.E. which includes a swimming program as SBU pool.  They receive OT and/or PT as needed.  Services for visually or hearing impaired are available.
