Posted Date: 10/16/26 (07:00 AM)

Bolivar School District students and educators are celebrating a historic milestone, achieving the strongest academic performance in district history since the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) began in 1998. The 2025–2026 assessment results reveal exceptional growth, record-setting margins over state benchmarks, and year-over-year gains across all core subjects.

Leading the historic results, Bolivar students excelled in Mathematics, posting a district-wide proficiency rate of 56.3%—12.5 percentage points above the state average of 43.8%. This achievement marks the district's largest math margin over the state since 1998. Bolivar outperformed the state in math at every tested grade level, with double-digit advantages in grades 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8, and a peak 63.0% proficiency rate in fourth grade.

In English Language Arts (ELA), Bolivar reached 50.8% proficiency, 5.5 percentage points above Missouri's 45.3% average—the district's largest ELA margin over the state since testing began in 1998. Bolivar students exceeded the state average across all seven grade levels tested, with fifth-grade students leading the way at 58.0% proficiency compared to the state's 44.0%.

Science classrooms also set a new standard of excellence, reaching 47.6% proficiency, the highest in district history since MAP began in 1998, and topping the state average by 5.5 percentage points. At the intermediate and middle school levels, Bolivar fifth graders achieved 60.0% proficiency (17 percentage points above the state), while eighth graders reached 52.0%.

"I could not be more proud of our Liberators for stepping up and achieving at such an exceptional level," added Superintendent Dr. Michael Methvin. "These results are the direct payoff of our students' hard work and the powerful collaboration happening among our teachers across the district. This proves that when our staff and students unite behind a shared vision, there is no limit to what we can accomplish."

"These historic scores are a direct reflection of the relentless hard work our teachers and students put in every single day," said Dr. Tim Garber, Assistant Superintendent of Academics. "Our staff has been incredibly intentional about elevating our instructional strategies and supporting every student's individual needs. Seeing this level of growth and reaching these record-breaking milestones across multiple subject areas is something our entire community should be incredibly proud of."

These historical benchmarks build on steady year-over-year progress in every core subject compared to 2025, including 5.9-point gains in Math and Science, a 4.4-point climb in ELA, and a rise to 40.0% in Social Studies.
